Explain Myers six functions of religion.

  1. Myer’s has made a list of six functions of religion which in my opinion is the fundamental ideas of all religions. The list starts with religion as the psychological which act as support because we do not have control over the acts of god, so when things do happen we lose stability. The transcendental gives us a sense of direction and provides security. Sacralization which satisfy society and the code of ethics. The prophetic is the ability of religion to criticize society in terms of norms and values. Identification which is where religion tells us who we are. Last but not least, maturation which is where religion make us mature based on responsibility and independence.
